Pete Dye's Wisconsin masterpiece.
In the late 1980s, Pete and Alice Dye shaped the river valleys outside the village of Kohler into Blackwolf Run, home to the River and Meadow Valleys courses and host of the U.S. Women’s Open. A decade later they turned to an abandoned airfield on the shore of Lake Michigan and built Whistling Straits, moving enough earth and sand to create two miles of links-style golf where none had existed before. The Straits Course has since hosted three PGA Championships, in 2004, 2010 and 2015, and the 2021 Ryder Cup.
In 2021, Dye’s longtime associate Chris Lutzke added The Baths, a ten-hole par-3 course at Blackwolf Run. This Pursuit plays all five courses, in the same week the Ryder Cup returns to Ireland for its 100th anniversary.
