THE PURSUIT

Five rounds. One city. A week among Ireland's championship links.

Seven nights at The Davenport in the heart of Dublin, and five rounds on the links that surround the city: Portmarnock, The Island, Jameson Golf Links, Royal Dublin, and County Louth at Baltray. Former European Tour professional Gary Murphy hosts the week, with welcome and farewell dinners, a day at leisure in the city, and sixteen travelers in all.

SEVEN NIGHTS · FIVE ROUNDS · BY INVITATION
DUBLIN'S CHAMPIONSHIP COAST

Championship Links, Within an Hour of Dublin

Portmarnock was founded in 1894 on a peninsula north of the city and has hosted the Irish Open nineteen times. Bernard Darwin judged its last five holes the finest finish he knew anywhere, and today it sits at No. 45 on Golf Digest’s list of the World’s 100 Greatest Courses. Across Dublin Bay, Royal Dublin occupies Bull Island on a links shaped by Harry Colt. Up the coast at Baltray, Tom Simpson’s County Louth hosted the Irish Open in 2004 and 2009, the second won by Shane Lowry as an amateur.

The Island, founded in 1890 and reachable only by boat until 1973, and Jameson Golf Links, Bernhard Langer’s design on the Portmarnock dunes, complete the week. All five are within an hour of the city.

Five rounds within an hour of Dublin, on the coast where Irish championship golf grew up.
YOUR HOST

Meet Gary Murphy

Born in Kilkenny, Murphy won the Irish Amateur Close in 1992, turned professional in 1995 and made close to 300 appearances on the European Tour, including a career-best third at the 2008 Irish Open at Adare Manor and a share of 34th at the 2003 Open Championship. Today he competes on the Legends Tour, serves as Head Golf Professional at The K Club, and is a familiar voice on DP World Tour broadcasts. On the course, over dinner and in the clubhouse afterward, he brings the history, architecture and personalities of Irish golf with him.

ACCOMMODATIONS · THE DAVENPORT HOTEL

One hotel, seven nights, in the heart of Dublin.

The group is based at The Davenport Hotel in Georgian Dublin, a short walk from Merrion Square, Trinity College and Grafton Street. Travelers stay in Executive King rooms for all seven nights, so there’s no packing and unpacking between rounds, and the hotel’s spa is there for the evenings in between.

THE GOLF

Five rounds among Ireland's championship links.

Every round is on its own peninsula, island or estuary, and all are within an hour of Dublin.

Round One

Portmarnock Golf Club

Day 2

Founded in 1894 on a peninsula north of Dublin, with the Irish Sea bordering nearly every hole, Portmarnock has hosted the Irish Open nineteen times and ranks No. 45 on Golf Digest’s list of the World’s 100 Greatest Courses. Bernard Darwin rated its closing five holes the finest finish he knew. Lunch in the clubhouse is included, and the club keeps a traditional dress code.

Round Two

The Island Golf Club

Day 3

A links on a peninsula between the Irish Sea and the Broadmeadow Estuary, minutes from Dublin Airport. Founded in 1890, The Island could only be reached by boat until 1973. Its tall dunes and firm fairways have kept it in the top ten of Irish Golfer’s national rankings.

Round 3

Jameson Golf Links

Day 4

Bernhard Langer’s 1995 links, designed with Stan Eby, sits next door to Portmarnock Golf Club and runs through dunes, pot bunkers and native grasses beside the Irish Sea. A six-hole redevelopment, completed in 2024 with a new 17th, has moved it steadily up the Irish rankings.

A Day at Leisure

Dublin City

Day 5

A full day at leisure in the city, with museums, galleries, Grafton Street, and Dublin's pubs and cafés close at hand.

Round Four

Royal Dublin Golf Club

Day 6

Set on Bull Island in Dublin Bay, Royal Dublin is a traditional links shaped by Harry Colt, with views toward Howth. A full rebunkering by Clayton, DeVries & Pont has lifted it to No. 19 in Irish Golfer’s 2026 rankings of Ireland’s courses.

Round Five

County Louth Golf Club, Baltray

Day 7

Known simply as Baltray, after the fishing village where the Boyne meets the sea, Tom Simpson’s 1938 links ranks No. 6 in Ireland and hosted the Irish Open in 2004 and 2009, when Shane Lowry won as an amateur.
