THE PURSUIT

Five Rounds. One Ryder Cup Weekend.

Four nights at The American Club. Five rounds across Pete Dye’s Wisconsin: Meadow Valleys to open, the River and The Baths on Friday, the Straits on Saturday, and the Irish Course on Sunday before heading home. And all of it falls on the weekend the Ryder Cup celebrates its centenary at Adare Manor, six years after the Cup came to the Straits.

FOUR NIGHTS · FIVE ROUNDS · BY INVITATION
WHISTLING STRAITS & BLACKWOLF RUN

Pete Dye's Wisconsin masterpiece.

In the late 1980s, Pete and Alice Dye shaped the river valleys outside the village of Kohler into Blackwolf Run, home to the River and Meadow Valleys courses and host of the U.S. Women’s Open. A decade later they turned to an abandoned airfield on the shore of Lake Michigan and built Whistling Straits, moving enough earth and sand to create two miles of links-style golf where none had existed before. The Straits Course has since hosted three PGA Championships, in 2004, 2010 and 2015, and the 2021 Ryder Cup.

In 2021, Dye’s longtime associate Chris Lutzke added The Baths, a ten-hole par-3 course at Blackwolf Run. This Pursuit plays all five courses, in the same week the Ryder Cup returns to Ireland for its 100th anniversary.

Six years after the Ryder Cup came to Whistling Straits, the group plays it on the weekend the Cup is decided in Ireland.
ACCOMMODATIONS · THE AMERICAN CLUB

The American Club

Throughout the Pursuit, the group stays at The American Club, built in 1918 to house the immigrant craftsmen of the Kohler Company and now the heart of the resort, in Deluxe King and Deluxe Two Queen rooms. Breakfast is included each morning, along with a private lesson with a Kohler Golf Academy instructor, and resort transportation carries both the group and its clubs between Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run. The resort fee covers the Sports Core Health and Racquet Club and valet parking.

THE GOLF

Five rounds. Five courses.

Five rounds across two properties, building from the river valleys of Blackwolf Run to the Lake Michigan dunes of Whistling Straits, with the Straits on Saturday as the round the trip is built around.

Round One

Meadow Valleys

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16 · 1:34 – 2:26 PM

Blackwolf Run’s Meadow Valleys opens the golf, a Pete and Alice Dye design that moves through hardwood forest and native prairie. It’s a gentler start before the wind arrives at the lake.

Round Two

River Course

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 · 10:45 – 11:50 AM

The River Course plays tight along the Sheboygan River and Otter Creek. It’s generally regarded as the more demanding of Blackwolf Run’s two 18s, and its holes formed the core of the U.S. Women’s Open setup.

Round Three

The Baths of Blackwolf Run

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 · 4:54 – 5:42 PM

A ten-hole par-3 course to close out Friday, designed by Dye protégé Chris Lutzke with Herb Kohler. Holes run from 60 to 160 yards around four shallow, sand-bottomed pools, the “baths” of the name, a nod to Kohler’s history in bathing design. And yes, you can swim in them.

Round Four

Straits Course

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 18 · THE MAIN EVENT · 11:24 AM – 12:16 PM

The round the trip is built around. Carved from an abandoned airfield along two miles of Lake Michigan shoreline, the Straits has hosted three PGA Championships and the 2021 Ryder Cup. The group plays it on Saturday, while the 2027 matches are underway at Adare Manor. Walking only, with bag carry included.

Round Five

Irish Course

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19 · 9:01 – 9:53 AM

A final round on Sunday morning at Whistling Straits’ companion course, with inland dunes and native fescue. As the group tees off, the Ryder Cup singles are deciding the Cup in Ireland.
